The Challenge
Development of a tool to allow the unlocking and recovery of a subsea XT from a wellhead to enable the successful decommissioning of a subsea oil field in the North Sea.
Our Solution
Developed in 4 phases (specification and concept development, proof of concept testing, detail design, manufacture, assembly and testing), the SRT is a bespoke tool that can be deployed by an offshore drilling rig. Final assembly and testing was completed at the RTC, working closely with the client team who were going to operate the tool offshore.
Benefits to the client
Confidence that the XT can be recovered after over 35 years on the seabed, mitigating the risk of expensive vessels delays.
